The Education and Youth Working Group of the US-Russia Social Expertise Exchange (SEE) is working on a new project called “Open Doors,” which brings Russian educators to the United States to get a better understanding of the country and the education system within it.
“The Education and Youth Working Group members encourage cross-cultural understanding among US and Russian youth,” said Yvonne Andres, Education Co-Chair of US-Russia Social Expertise Exchange. “[Members] prepare young people of both countries to work collaboratively to solve or prevent global problems via student-centered methods such as education exchanges, seminars and conferences.”
SEE Russian visitors, or “fellows,” are individuals who are well versed in social issues related to the education system and youth development, said Andres.
“They will provide guidance on ongoing projects, participate in organizational development activities as appropriate, conduct research and build their professional network,” Andres said. “Fellows are also expected to facilitate strengthened interaction among experts and relevant groups in both countries, both while at host organizations and upon their returns home.”
The purpose of this program is to break through negative stereotypes that may exist of either country and create positive connections and collaboration between the United States and Russia.
