“Grand Theft Auto V” (GTA V), a game owned and created by Rockstar Games, parodies real life actors, politicians, cars, cities and more. GTA games are infamously known for carjacking, racing, robbing banks and going to strip clubs.
After over a year of waiting, GTA players finally got what they have been waiting for. On March 10, Rockstar released the new update for GTA Online. Like all of the online updates, new vehicles, clothes, mask and aircrafts were available for the players to buy. What GTA players were really anxious for, however, were the new multiplayer heists.
Heists were a series of short missions leading up to one big bank robbery, rewarding players with millions of dollars in GTA money. At the end of each mission, if passed, players received $26,000 and 1,500 RP (reputation points). Once the players completed the final mission of the heists, they got even more money depending on how much the leader decides to give each player. Two new vehicles will also be available for players to purchase at the completion of each heist.
Now, was all of this hype really worth waiting for? I can honestly say my answer is no. Yes, it’s a great way to earn a lot of money and cool new cars; however, there is no way to get around the inconvenience of needing other players. As you’re waiting in the lobby for one last person to join, other players can get impatient and leave. Now you’re stuck waiting for two more players. Rockstar should allow gamers to play alone with NPC’s (non-player characters), if nobody else joins them.
Another disadvantage of having to play with people you don’t know is most of the time, the other players don’t know what to do or don’t listen to you. When communication is poor or lacking, you more than likely will fail and have to redo the mission a couple of times.
Overall, I think the main reason why so many people are disappointed with the heists, is because Rockstar kept promising they would release the update “soon” but kept pushing the date further back, so the heists were expected to be much better than they turned out. Regardless of this disappointment, many players, including myself, will find themselves getting on GTA again whenever a new update comes out.
