USU Live! sings in the spring semester
February 6, 2018
The beginning of the semester is typically a stressful time as students assimilate to their new classes, spend hundreds on textbooks and adjust to their new sleeping schedule. What better way to kick off the semester than with a karaoke night? Jan. 24 proved to be an entertaining and stress-free Wednesday night for anyone in the University Student Union (USU) Activity Center.
CSUSM’s USU Live! Team hosted the first of many activities this semester, like a karaoke night where amatuer and seasoned singers alike were encouraged to sing a song of their choice. Not to worry, for those who may have been less musically inclined, autotune was available.
Song choice ranged from Post Malone’s “I Fall Apart” to “How Far I’ll Go” from Disney’s Moana. Regardless of the song, attendees clapped along and waved their flashlights in the air. Students who didn’t sing listened in while playing pool or video games.
USU Live! hosts several events throughout the semester. A billiards tournament will be held Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. and a “FIFA 18” tournament on Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. Students can participate in the “FIFA 18” tournament by signing up by Feb. 8 in the USU Activity Center.
The USU Activity Center is a great place for students to pass the time in between classes or during U-hour. The center has game consoles and video games available to rent out in the center. For old school people, arcade games and pool tables are also available for use. If those activities aren’t of interest, the Activity Center is always a nice place to sit, eat lunch, listen to music and meet new people.
