CSUSM Campus Rec Sport Club: Men’s Lacrosse

Sport Club programs provided by Campus Rec allows students to create bonds with others of similar interests.  It is because of the dedication and passion that is shared by these individuals including students and staff that continue to have the program standing.

The team was started by Chase Allvord in 2010, who was a student at that time, but the commitment of both the players and coaches was needed. There are currently three captains, Iain Holman who holds the President position (senior), Vice-President Jeremy Traub (sophomore) and Treasure Brandon Bowens (senior). The values that are shared within this team are academics, athleticism, dedication and brotherhood.

Students are encouraged to join who play lacrosse because they have “the closest, most fun and grittiest remain in Southern California.”

Practices are held in the afternoon, Tuesday to Thursday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. CSUSM Men’s Lacrosse currently has a team of 21 players, 25 being their ideal number.

The Lacrosse Team has done a good start leaving their hard work

and dedication on the field. On Feb. 3, they opened their season against Marymount College and defeat the Mariners with a score of 22-1. This team has demonstrated their hard work and dedication by continuing their streak, winning all three  games so far.

Can 2018 be the year for the men’s lacrosse team?

We’ve struggled to make it past the first round of the playoffs every year, but we are fortunate to have a first team all-attackman in Austin Jenkin, 2nd team-all defense in Brandon Bones, and All-American honorable mention and 1st team face-off specialist in Iain Holman. Also, our coaching staff is phenomenal and we have a great group of players, so this is our year!” said Iain Holman.

The ultimate goals of the team are to qualify for the Southern Lacrosse Conference championship and Nationals, for those who still remain uncertain in wanting to become a part of this team, take the first step and start  supporting the team at their home games.

“Come out and watch us play this season!” said Iain Holman.

Come support the Men’s lacrosse club on their next home game against the University of San Diego Toreros, March 10 at 2 p.m.
