Listening to music is one of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit.

As finals season wraps up, either with a nice little bow or the complete opposite, the holidays are getting closer and closer. The transition from the high-stress fi nals season to the holiday sea-son can be quite a jump but thankfully there’s still time to be grateful and spend time with those we care about. Whether you celebrate Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas or anything and everything in between, there are many holiday albums to get you in the spirit.

Christmas and Chill Ariana Grande: When it comes to Christmas, Ariana Grande never disappoints. Her new EP Christmas and Chill has a variety of slow and pop songs for any Christmas mood. As shown by the new EP, her previous album Christmas Kisses and single “Santa Tell Me,” Grande has proven that she can consistently create new, legendary Christmas songs.

Merry Christmas Mariah Carey: It isn’t Christmas without walking into a store and hearing “All I Want For Christmas is You” at least once. An oldie but a goodie, Mariah Carey’s Christmas album creates a joyous and cheerful atmosphere. Carey puts a modern twist on multiple holiday classics while still staying true to the songs’ original meaning.

Under the Mistletoe Justin Bieber: One of the most underestimated yet beloved albums is definitely Justin Bieber’s Under the Mistletoe. Musically, Under the Mistletoe is one of the most diverse Christmas albums to this day, as it includes rap, pop, R&B and country songs. The album features various other artists such as Usher, Boys II Men, Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes and The Band Perry. No matter your taste in music, Under the Mistletoe is guaranteed to have a song for you.

Christmas Michael Bublé: The smooth, jazzy voice of Michael Bublé is quite literally the tree-topper of holiday music. His voice paired with the classics creates that warm, comforting atmosphere that’s often associated with the holiday season.

The Best of Pentatonix Christmas Pentatonix: Pentatonix never disappoints with their originality and pure talent. Using no other audio other than their voices, Pentatonix is still able to evoke the holiday feeling with many Christmas classics. One of the most impressive holiday Pentatonix songs featured on this album is “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker.” Pentatonix’s twist on this classic, of course, is that they only create the sounds with their voices.

A Very She & Him Christmas She & Him: While this duo is a very small musical group, the voice of Zooey Deschanel can’t go unrecognized. Deschanel and her bandmate, M. Ward, create a lovely feeling that will make you want to give someone a hug and spread some holiday cheer.

Light up a soothing peppermint or pine candle and blast these Christmas albums while you decorate the tree, bake some cookies or wrap some presents. The songs of these albums will give you the feeling of being wrapped up under a blanket in cozy pajamas next to a crackling fireplace while sipping on some hot cocoa.

However, these Christmas albums are surely only a few amongst the many that are great. There are many other amazing Christmas albums not listed and some yet to be created. Happy holidays Cougars! Enjoy your winter break!
