Campus leader, food drive organizer and Cougar Chronicle health columnist Curtis Bovee was among many students honored Wednesday, April 24, at the 2013 Tukwut Leadership Awards Night program at The Clarke Center.
The one-hour awards program, which included a free dinner for all of this year’s nominees, honored outstanding students, campus and student organizations, faculty advisers and this past year’s most outstanding student-organized event. More than 200 nominations were submitted to the Tukwut Awards Committee and from those, more than 90 nominees were chosen. The final winners in each category were selected on the basis of their contributions to campus life and leadership.
Here are the winners of this year’s awards:
Dean of Students Leadership Award: Curtis Bovee
Best New Student Organization: Sigma Chi
Most Outstanding Program or Event: “Tunnel of Oppression,” organized by USUAB/CAT (University Student Union Advisory Board/Clarke Activities Team).
Campus Organization Member of the Year: Sammi Carr, The Civility Campaign
Campus Organization of the Year: USUAB/CAT
Student Organization Member of the Year: Beth Royce, Alpha Xi Delta
Student Organization of the Year: Men’s lacrosse team
Advisor of the Year: Dr. Elizabeth Matthews
Outstanding Freshman Student Award: Hannah Hawker
Outstanding Sophomore Student Award: Katie Boggs
Outstanding Junior Student Award: Hugo Pinales
Cougar Wall of Fame: Kirstee Novak
