Twisted, bloody and thrilling, The Boys brings us to the edge of our seats
November 21, 2020
Inspired by the comic book series of the same name, The Boys brings into reality a society where superheroes live among us like celebrities.
Protecting the city of New York is the Seven, a league of superheroes closely resembling the Justice League superheroes with their costumes and powers.
The leader of the Seven is Homelander (Anthony Starr), a character established as a good guy, a hero that everyone looks up to.
Yet, not everything is as it seems.
The Seven are controlled by Vought, the empire that is involved everywhere. This company keeps the city’s streets clean, but also holds many dirty secrets.
In season one, Hughie (Jack Quaid) is a simple guy considering moving in with his girlfriend.
Minutes into that very first episode, a member of the Seven accidentally kills Hughie’s girlfriend. Vought managed to turn things around and blame the girlfriend for being in the middle of the street.
With Hughie’s loss and anger as his motivator, he is in a pursuit to reveal the truth behind the Seven.
Butcher (Karl Urban) is the one that recruits Hughie along with his old crew, unintentionally becoming the Boys. Season two takes a turn for the worse as the Boys are confronted with more challenges.
This show is like no other. It subtly tackles numerous relevant social issues and controversies in our current society, such as the #MeToo Movement, the evils of the entertainment industry and the military-industrial complex.
The amount of violence and blood in the show is one thing. But the jaw-dropping decisions these characters make are out of this world. There are so many unexpected scenes.
The actors’ performances, especially Anthony Starr’s, are truly incredible. Each character has a true reason behind their madness, even Homelander.
This show will leave you speechless and have you at the end of your seat. Currently, season three is in the making.
This is one show you won’t guess correctly. There is satire and humor. The deaths and sexual content in the show can be brutal. Amongst all, it is pure chaos and destruction. It is truly incredible. You will end up binge-watching every episode of this show.
