On July 10, 2014, our Editor-in-Chief (Katlin Sweeney), former Design Editor & Photographer (Anne Hall), and Distribution Manager (Jeff Meints) represented The Cougar Chronicle at The Society of Professional Journalists awards ceremony in San Diego.
Amongst other college media groups and professional media groups such as The Union Tribune and KPBS, The Cougar Chronicle was honored for outstanding journalism. Out of 500 submissions from various news groups, The Cougar Chronicle was recognized in two categories for outstanding college journalism. Recently graduated Health Columnist, Rachel Gallego, was awarded Second Place in the “College Media: Column” category for her column, The Heart Beat. Our new Distribution Manager, Jeff Meints, received an Honorable Mention in the “College Media: Opinion/Editorial” category for his article entitled “Homeless Perspective.”
Way to go, Chronicle writers! We are so proud of you.
