The Men’s Golf Team recently competed in the InterWest Wildcat Classic at Chico State. Dylan Healey led the charge and walked away with individual title honors.
The Franklin, Tennessee native started golfing when he was about five years old and was labeled a bonafide golfer within his family, along with his father. At the age of seven, Healey began traveling and competing at driving ranges, and given how he plays today, he seems to have always had a knack for the sport.
In high school, Healey gained a spot on the Brentwood Academy Varsity Golf Team as an eighth grader, where he was a consistent star on the team. He earned the Division II-AA state title, ranked among the best in the nation and even represented the United States internationally.
Having first attended college in Arizona, Healey made his way to CSUSM in 2014 in search of a program in which he would be able to shine. Had he gone to a Division I school, he would have sat out.
After searching through the NAIA standings and contacting Coach Greg Hutton, Healey made the decision to attend CSUSM. During his short time here, Healey has been named to the NAIA First-Team All-America, set school records, performed consistently well in tournaments and has helped his team win the InterWest Wildcat Classic, which was their first NCAA tournament.
Healey has established his position as a star athlete in CSUSM’s sports program, working his way through Qualifying School on his journey towards becoming a pro golfer. There is no doubt that he will continue to shine and CSUSM remains proud to have him.
