The Police Department is currently working on a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course for women that will be implemented soon in an attempt to better equip students with self-defense skills.

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance while progressing to the basics of hands-on defense training. The program offers a free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates.

The course, open to all members of the community, will be taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors. The program will be free of charge to students, with the exception of a $10 R.A.D. manual that must be purchased to attend the three day course. The cost for non-students will be $15 for the class in addition to the $10 R.A.D. manual.

If you have any questions or would like to express your interest in the Rape Aggression Defense course, contact Sgt. Stuart Ida at [email protected] or Officer Matt Curran at [email protected].
