The next installment of the Rocky series, “Creed,” premiered in movie theaters on Thanksgiving Day.
Starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, the film centers on Adonis Johnson (Jordan), a young man who never had the chance to meet his father, the world famous boxing champion Apollo Creed.
After leaving his life in Los Angeles behind, Adonis moves to Philadelphia in hopes to have the boxing legend, and longtime friend of his father, Rocky Balboa (Stallone) train him. With his past defining him, Adonis will have to face more than just his opponents in order to fully find himself in his endeavors.
“Creed”is an original story that can be distinguished next to its predecessors. Some of the sets give off some serious nostalgia of the earlier “Rocky” films, but prove to be faithful to the new plot.
The story does a great job in exhibiting the challenges that Jordan’s character has to face in order to fulfill his desire for boxing. The plot also succeeds in bringing out several main characters’ inner struggles to light.
“Creed” brings a balanced story that even people who are not familiarized with the “Rocky” series will enjoy viewing.
