Baking the perfect Christmas Cookie
December 14, 2016
Christmas is less than a month away and it is officially acceptable to unleash your inner Christmas spirit! And what better way than baking cookies?
Searching for the perfect recipe can be difficult. However, I found one that is a sure winner . Today, I am going to tell you how to bake the perfect rolled sugar cookies with a recipe provided by Jill Saunders on allrecipies.com. These cookies are both delicious and simple to make.
Ingredients
1 ½ cup butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp salt
You want to begin by mixing the butter and sugar together in a large bowl. Then, beat in the eggs and stir in the vanilla. Lastly, add in the flour, baking powder and salt and stir until the ingredients are completely mixed in. After your dough is prepared, cover and chill for at least an hour.
Once your dough has chilled, preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Then, take your dough and roll it out to be ¼ to ½ inch thick on a floured surface. Once your dough is rolled out, cut out your shapes using Christmas-themed cookie cutters. After your cookies are cut out, place them on an ungreased cookie sheet, one inch apart and bake them for six to eight minutes.
After your cookies have cooled completely, you can decorate them! Be as traditional or creative as you want. I kept mine simple and added some red and green sprinkles on them. To avoid buying several cans of different colored frosting, buy vanilla frosting, divide it in bowls and add food coloring to create your desired colors.
After you’re all finished decorating your cookies, you can put them in festive plastic bags and hand them out as gifts to your friends. Or you can keep them and enjoy them all to yourself, because they’re just that good.
