Fergie, singer-songwriter and “Grammy” winning, releases her sophomore album, Double Dutchess, with a visual experience per song on Sept. 22.

It has been 11 years since Fergie released the critically acclaimed album The Dutchess and people are dying for the new album to debut, after bopping to “Fergalicious” and feeling very “Glamorous”. Between her long break Fergie dropped a couple albums with The Black Eyed Peas, had her son Axl Jack, and also within these past few years dropped singles that were not linked to any album originally. Now, with “Double Dutchess” Fergie comprises those singles into an album with other songs and other features about her journey, “being an underdog” still in a large business, and life.

First the album starts with “Hungry” featuring Rick Ross, which is a rap track with an unexpected choir in the background chanting “Hungry” — a song with attitude about the drive of success and referencing being equivalently rich to Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar and basketball player Kobe Bryant.

On track three, there is “You Already Know” a feature with Nicki Minaj about Fergie’s comeback, being a successful businesswomen, having experience in the industry, and at the same time attaining Grammy’s and American Music Awards. There are backtrack samples of “It Takes Two” by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock and Lyn Collins “Think (About It)” which make the song have a unique vibe, sound and sarcastic tone.

The middle of the album softens with “Life Goes On” where there are beach pop vibes to it. A song about not caring where you are on the charts, optimism and “letting go”. By the last track of Double Dutchess, “Love is Pain” completely softens to a deep “80s rock ballad,” according to Fergie in an interview. This song carries emotion and the focus point is mostly the singer’s vocal points and the guitarists in the background.

As an original underdog to the forefront of every radio station Fergie displays she is ready to shine with this album. Waiting these 11 years is worth the wait.
