Fashion commentary: Summer to fall transition

School’s in session and fall is just around the corner, but buying a new fashion wardrobe and storing summer clothes isn’t necessary.

Reasonably enough, transitioning from summer to fall by combining summer clothing and accessories with those of fall is an easy switch.

The best part about trends is that some stick around until next season or return bigger and better from past seasons.

Some 70’s styles are not only around for summer, they shift easily into fall as well. There are different garments like dresses and blouses that are inspired by patchwork. A few more trends include turtleneck sweaters, tassel closed sweaters, and flared suit or denim pants.

“I am starting to actually like the flares of the jeans. I feel like it’s different since everyone has been wearing skinny jeans,” CSUSM student, Sandy Lopez, said.

Other decades making a comeback are the 80’s with bold and brash Memphis color looks, and the 90’s with the all-time favorite slip dress.

The 19th century returns again looking chic. White blouses with elegant, neo-Victorian, high-neck ruffled collars and dresses with a touch of black lace are in; men should be wearing waiter-inspired bow ties and ruffled sleeves.

Neons, furs and gleaming textures are being incorporated into the wardrobe. It’s never too late to feel confident and sassy.

Another style, “Eastern Influence,” returns in a whirlwind of crimson lace and gold fabric.

Wearing black from head to toe is trending. The look is still classy and very fashion-forward. Brown is also in.

Choosing from so many different styles is hard, but luckily you don’t have to. You can mix and match all of these clothes. Trust your instincts and have fun transitioning from summer to fall in style.
