From Nov. 2014 to early 2015, Marvel brought their multiverse to a craze with the crossover event “Spider-Verse.”

Started after the original Peter Parker saved the captive “Silk” Cindy Moon, a whirlwind of clashes resulted in bringing in almost every Spider-Man incarnation and affiliate.

One from the main 616-Earth is Anya Corazón, or rather “Spider-Girl.” While given few times on the main stage, Corazón is a key player for the team of heroes.

Corazón was always a crimefighter. Her father Gilberto was an investigative reporter who moved to the States with his daughter after his wife died in their home country, Mexico. It was in her 2004 debut in the “Amazing Fantasy” issue that her sense of justice got her into trouble, but also led her to the discovery of her powers.

“Araña: Heart of the Spider” is the collection of Corazón’s first appearance as the Spider Society Hunter Araña. Sadly, at the end of the series, she passed on her abilities to another, but never stopped being a hero. Skilled in gymnastics and very athletically adept, Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) trained and mentored her, preventing her valuable talent from going to waste. A few years later the during the “Grim Hunt” arc in “Amazing Spider-Man,” she received Arachne’s costume after Julia Carpenter became the new Madame Web.

In late 2010, Corazón was casted to star in the eight-issue solo series “Spider-Girl,” written by Paul Tobin. Trouble hit close to home and she faced some great trials and challenges. Nevertheless, she overcame them, and in return, was more active with the Avengers.

Corazón’s adventures have taken her far from her Mexican home to Los Angeles, New York and now the mysterious Loomworld. Authors Fiona Avery and Mark Brooks have created a character who is a true protector of the people.

Corazón will be appearing in a new series called “Web Warriors” alongside other spider-like heroes such as Spider-Gwen, Indian Spider-Man and Spider Ham. It will be hitting the shelves in October. For more information on Corazón, visit www.marvel.com.
