Kendra Fitzpatrick, my co-conspirator prances away

Elizabeth Jaffari, Design Editor

Kendra Fitzpatrick is a majestic unicorn, one that comes around only once a century.

She has become one of my best friends at CSUSM. For that, I don’t know how to thank her enough, but I hope an article might suffice.

Fitzpatrick has served alongside me as the Co-Design Editor and writer for The Cougar Chronicle for the past year.

“Working for the paper is amazing. It gave me the opportunity to meet an incredible array of people and make so many friends that I never would have made otherwise,” said Fitzpatrick.

From her commentary on the exploitation of female figures in video games, to her critical eye for design, Fitzpatrick has produced great content and helped create the very newspaper you are reading. She has spread her good spirit at The Cougar Chronicle.

Gayana Parsegova, a Features Staff Writer, said being around Fitzpatrick is a great joy.

“It’s hard not to have a smile on your face when you’re with Kendra. Between her sarcasm and her never-ending puns, I can spend hours with her just laughing about anything,” said Parsegova.

Now, my co-conspirator is graduating. Thus, we must say goodbye to our magical colleague.

After a few years at MiraCosta College and a couple years at CSUSM, Fitzpatrick is walking on Saturday, May 21, having earned a bachelor’s in literature and writing.

“I like literature because it’s a way for me to study what I love,” said Fitzpatrick.

Now about to face the world outside of CSUSM, she offered this advice to those still working toward graduation: “Make friends and use this opportunity to grow as a person and as a student.”
She added, “Don’t let other people drag you down from your potential.”
