CSU Chancellor Timothy White announces no tuition increase

The California State University Chancellor Timothy P. White confirmed a no tuition increase for the fall 2019.

According to the CSU twitter account @CalState, posted a quote saying that due to Governor Newsom’s budget, there will be no tuition increase.

“In response to Gov. Newsom’s visionary budget, I will not bring forward any request for the Trustees to consider a tuition increase for our 2019-20 budget. You heard me right—tuition is off the table,” said White.

An article by the The Los Angeles Times says Gov. Newsom’s proposed budget gives CSU a $300 million increase, with an additional one time proposal of $247 million to repair infrastructure and $15 million for student hunger and housing.

In addition, according to ebudget.ca.gov, “the budget proposes total funding of $36.4 billion for higher education.”
