On Tuesday September 12th, 2024 CSUSM’s Latinx Center in collaboration with the PRIDE and WGEC centers hosted its 8th annual Latinx Hertiage Month reception. This is one event of many this Latinx Heritage Month, which runs yearly from September-October 15th. The evented hosted cultural music, speakers and student organization tables from Campus affiliated Fraternities and Sororities. The event was held in forum plaza from 5-8:30am, receiving around 300 attendees.
Antwon Taylor, a second-year CSUSM student and local organizer shared his perspective on the event; “It was great to see so many students come together to support Latinx Heritage Month, I loved getting to see the speakers with the event and truly come to understand how their heritage shapes them”
Throughout the rest of the month, students can expect to see more Latinx Heritage month events like the Chigano fest, My Culture is not a Trend and Shared roots (a colabrative event with APIDA). Overall, these events are sure to make an impact on campus this year as we celebrate Latinx Heritage Month this September and October.
