Are you guilty of judging books by their cover? Well, on September 12, ASI invited students to take a chance and go on a blind date with a book.
Employed by bookstores nationwide, the “Blind Date with a Book” concept aims to surprise readers with a brand-new book. Readers browse a wide array of books wrapped in paper and are then given a set of clues about the book’s synopsis before selecting their next read. Once they’ve selected a book, they can then unwrap the book and dive into a new story that they may have otherwise never read.
ASI’s event, located in Palm Court, followed this same concept and allowed students to take home their next five star read. The wide selection of books, ranging from romantic novels to historical fiction, was donated by the Friends of the Escondido Public Library non-profit organization. Students from all over campus gathered in anticipation of their next read and by the end of the event you could feel the campus community’s love for reading grow.
ASI did an amazing job at bringing together the community to rejoice in literary bliss and I can’t wait to see what their next event brings to CSUSM.
