Outside of a blip in the 12th minute, CSUSM dominated the game from start to finish, out-shooting Judson 32-8 and holding a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

CSUSM took its first lead just two minutes into the contest, when defender Breanna Brenton joined the attack on Taylor Ziencina’s corner kick, getting to the ball and nicely heading it into the back of the net.  It’s the third goal in four games CSUSM has scored off a corner kick.

Judson would equalize in the 12th minute, the CSUSM would take the lead once and for all in the 39th.  Shannon Cox recorded her first goal as a Cougar, as a cross was headed down by Brenton to the penalty spot, where Cox drove the shot home to put her team up 2-1.

Taylor Schurman closed out the scoring in the 66th minute, finishing off a cross from Taylor Ziencina to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Cougars will face a tough test in front of the home crowd on Wednesday when they take on Master’s College at 3 PM.
