Chuck Berry and Chubby Checker appeared on stage in San Diego together on Friday, and CSUSM most likely didn’t represent well. No surprise. Not many college kids are into the oldies. Notice, though, that the oldies stations play Queen and even (gasp) Nirvana now. It’s time to give the familiar pop music of the 1950s and 60s another listen, remembering that it too once defined itself as college rock—and offended a nation of parents. In honor of Chuck and Chubby:
