STAFF VALENTINE’S DAY MOVIE FAVORITES

A Walk to Remember (2002)
By: Juliana Stumpp

Not being into sappy “chick flicks” or Nicholas Sparks novels, I fell in love with “A Walk to Remember,” starring a young Mandy Moore and bad boy Shane West. Together they went through social hardships and a terminal disease all while falling in love.

500 Days of Summer (2009)
By: Lissette Nunez

“500 Days of Summer” is not a love story. Instead the film is “a story about love” and how love can sometimes fail. Oddly enough, the film is nowhere near depressing. Its humor comforts the audience and uplifts the film’s less-than happy ever after.

WALL·E (2008)
By: Kyle M. Johnson

Pixar’s film tells the funny, sweet and at times heartbreaking love story between two robots, WALL·E and EVE. One beautifully orchestrated scene shows the two “dancing” through space, WALL·E trying to keep up by using a fire extinguisher.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)
By: Melissa Martinez

It’s hard not to fall in love with Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman’s chemistry in “Moulin Rouge!” Set in 1899, the heart of the bohemian era, poet Christian falls in love with star courtesan Satine while they ensue an intense love affair, creating a dangerous love triangle between them and a rich and powerful duke.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
By: Alex Franco

Scott Pilgrim battles Ramona Flowers’ seven evil exes to win her love. It’s an awesome, unorthodox romance movie with tons of video game references and a bunch of hilarious one-liners.

High Fidelity (2000)
By: Chris Giancamilli

Record store owner Rob Gordon (John Cusack) seeks answers to his failed past relationships after his most recent girlfriend leaves him for another man. Through his investigation, Rob discovers the key to success in his love life. Cusack’s hilarious portrayal of a love-confused hopeful easily makes this my favorite romantic comedy.

Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011)
By: Arley Ramos

Hilarious and shocking, “Crazy, Stupid, Love” offers romance, comedy and even drama, making it a great movie to enjoy
