THE COUGAR SHUFFLE 2/28

Now that lovey-dovey month is almost behind us, those of us who are single can put their lonesome status behind them. Here’s a five-song playlist designed to uplift the listener’s self-assurance and help them get their mojo back.

LMFAO: “I’m Sexy and I Know It” This has retro groovy feel with catchy verses that cleverly promote self-confidence. At the same time, its irresistible vibe manages to be inspirational in its own amiable, flirtatious way.

DJ Class: “I’m the Ish” This spunky, buoyant egocentric song celebrates self-confidence, but in a good way.

Jason Derülo: “Ridin’ Solo” This sensational electronic track from DeRulo’s self- titled album is about independence, and how should be embraced, not frowned upon.

Classified: “All About U” In 2006, MC artist Classified released his album, “Hitch Hikin’ Muisc.” The album’s themes include patriotism, social consciousness and diverse attitudes on underground rap. Classified bluntly articulates the ideas of overcoming obstacles and continuing to hope for the best without becoming cynical.

Hundredth: “Willows” The Christian melodic hardcore band from Myrtle Beach, S.C., celebrates individuality and self- awareness in this song and how to go from being a follower to a leader.
